Forged by Youth Award

Celebrating creativity and supporting welding education


To celebrate the creativity and effort involved in secondary school welding projects, and in continued support of secondary school welding facilities, the CWB Welding Foundation is proud to announce the Forged by Youth Award. This award will recognize outstanding class projects with a financial award for each winning school’s welding program.

First place: $15,000
Second place: $10,000
Third place: $5,000
Honourable mentions: 10 awards of $1,000 each

This award is intended to be in addition to the regular funding allotted for the welding program so that students may enjoy better educational experiences, projects, materials, and enhanced learning environments.

To be eligible to apply for the award, the applicant must be a full-time welding educator at a secondary school in Canada. The educator is to submit a class project that has been completed in either the 2019-202 or 2020-2021 school year.

Educator to complete the online application form and provide a signed letter of support from the school board/institutional administrator for the educator to apply for the award.

As part of the application, you will be required to upload a written submission describing the following:

  • A description of the project and its origins
  • Project drawings
  • Project material list and step by step instructions
  • Class participation and learning outcomes
  • Pictures and videos (if available)
  • Community involvement (if applicable)
  • Number of participating students in your welding program
  • Demographic of students within your welding program
  • Impact of the project on your welding program and students

Applications will be reviewed by an advisory panel. Funding decisions are the responsibility of the CWB Welding Foundation and are approved by its independent Board of Directors.

Once applications have been reviewed and a decision has been made, applicants will be informed of their standing.
