Women of Steel virtual event introduces women to different career paths in welding

More than 50 people joined the CWB Welding Foundation for a special virtual event on October 28 to hear about a variety of different career paths in welding. The highlight of the virtual event, called Women of Steel–Navigating a Successful Career in Welding: Welding inspection and other pathways, was a panel discussion with women welders who have advanced into welding inspection and other supervisory roles.

The special guests on the panel were:

  • Rebecca Kennedy, RSE Welder, Level 2 CWB Welding Inspector, Welding Support Supervisor, Seaspan ULC (Victoria, BC)
  • Nicole LeClair, RSE Welder, Level 1 Welding Inspector, Welding Professor, Sheridan College and Mohawk College (Brampton and Stoney Creek, ON)
  • Janice Miller, RSE Welder, Level 2 Welding Inspector, Site Quality Assurance Manager, LNG Canada Project, Fluor (Sherwood Park, AB)

Attendees also heard about an exciting opportunity for upcoming welding inspection training, presented by Darcy Yantz, Manager, CWB Education, and Connie Hodgson, Manager, Client Services, CWB Group.
