Advance Women in Manufacturing 2024 virtual event recently took place, shedding light on the significant contributions and challenges faced by women in the Canadian manufacturing sector.
The CWB Foundation’s commitment to diversity extends to breaking barriers and empowering underrepresented groups in the skilled trades. Partnerships with industry leaders have resulted in programs like the Women of Steel™ Mentorship Network, which provides female participants with support from mentors who understand their unique challenges.
The Canadian Centre of Welding and Joining (CCWJ) at the University of Alberta, in collaboration with the CWB Group, is honoured to support the distribution of a generous anonymous gift of over 58,000 lbs of Shield-Arc® 70+ Stick Electrodes (SMAW). These electrodes will be distributed to learning environments across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, providing an invaluable resource to support welding programs in the region.
Safety is a non-negotiable priority in any educational setting, especially where students are engaged in skilled trades like welding. The CWB WeldSAFE™ program, launched in 2022, aims to ensure students receive proper training in safe environments, laying the foundation for a culture of safety that transcends into their future careers.
The CWB Welding Foundation, a national not-for-profit charitable organization, is thrilled to announce the renewal and expansion of its partnership with NFI Group Inc. that started in 2023. This collaboration not only reaffirms their commitment but also includes a generous $30,000 funding pledge. The partnership represents a significant step forward in addressing the need for skilled welding tradespeople and professionals in the North American workforce.
When we think of welding, we typically envision sparks flying in a workshop as a welder fuses...
Stigma has long undermined the true value and importance of skilled trades. We have continued challenging these misconceptions by offering programs and education that raise awareness and expose participants to welding to demystify the world of skilled trades. Our goal? Generate meaningful conversations with students, parents, educators, and industry professionals that inform and inspire them to consider opportunities and career paths they may be unaware of.
At the CWB Foundation, we express our gratitude to Bruce Power for their remarkable contributions to Sparking Success, our initiative aimed at shaping the future of welding and related careers for students from the Bruce Grey Catholic and Bluewater District School Boards.
