Positioned to apply for leadership roles in the industry, Certified Level One Inspectors can develop management skills and begin to affect positive change and increase diversity in the industry.

This fully funded program includes tuition, course materials and exam fees. The course offers online and hands-on training from world-class CWB instructors.

Topics include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Drawing Interpretation, Joint Design, Metal Preparation and Symbols for Welding
  • Introduction to Welding Processes
  • Basic Metallurgy and Material Specifications
  • Basic Inspection
  • Codes and Standards
  • Functions of the Inspector
  • Techniques of Visual Inspection
  • Practical Inspection of Welded Specimens

Wraparound supports, including two hours of personalized instruction for participants and individual mentorship, support the needs and success of all participants.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate and examination transcript allowing participants to be exempt from writing the closed book CSA W178.2 certification examination on the fundamental principles and practices of welding, quality control, and welding inspection. Once all the assessments are completed, successful graduates will be granted Level 1 Welding Inspector certification and can work across various industries.
