John Marinucci’s fingerprint and influence can be seen across both the CWB Welding Foundation’s (CWBWF) and CWB Group evolution – shaping our success as a volunteer, leader, industry luminary and donor. After all, he’s been a pillar within our organization for 20 years. Even though he has recently stepped down as Chair of the CWBWF Board and passed the torch to Sarah Watts-Rynard, he has indelibly left his mark and will continue to impact the welding and joining industry and our related businesses well into the future.
To further cement his legacy and honour his contributions, the Foundation and Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario are proud to announce the establishment of an endowed award, the CWB John Marinucci Student Bursary. This bursary reflects John’s commitment to Canada’s economic competitiveness through the promotion and support of education in welding and joining, a critical component of Canada’s industrial fabric and economic success across traditional and new industry sectors. Each year, one student from the Fabrication Techniques program with a GPA of 75 per cent or greater and demonstrates financial need, will be awarded $1,250 toward their post-secondary education at Mohawk College.
“John has been an influential and fully committed patron, Chair and board volunteer at the CWB Welding Foundation, and likewise, the CWB Group over his many years of service,” says Susan Crowley, Executive Director of CWB Welding Foundation. “Establishing this bursary at Mohawk College was a fitting tribute to his philanthropic and volunteer leadership, unanimously supported by all Board members.”
This endowed award was established earlier this year with a gift of $25,000 from the Foundation to Mohawk College, and qualified for the College’s matching program, ensuring it will be available to students for years to come. The award comes into effect for the 2022-23 academic year and will be managed and administered by the College.

Mr. Marinucci has held executive and senior management roles within several Canadian and US companies and serves on several public and private company boards.
