Building Awareness and Supporting Skills Development

Woman of Steel participant welding a T joint in the horizontal position using the Shielded Metal Arc welding process.

We partner with secondary and post-secondary schools and community organizations to host Mind Over Metal camps that introduce welding to youth across Canada.

The 2019-20 program was supported by CWB Welding Foundation as well as three major Mind Over Metal camp sponsors including Enbridge (Regina, Balgonie), Bird Construction (Fairview), and the Ontario Council for Technology Education (OCTE) (Brantford). Other sponsors include Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) (Prince Albert), Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) (Regina), Dumur Industries (Moose Jaw), Dr. Amy Thomas (Regina) and Sasktel (Prince Albert).

In-kind donations of personal protective equipment have been made by 3M, Praxair, and Rasco. We are very grateful for their involvement and support of this impactful initiative.
